ADHD & Omega-3 Nutritional Deficiency

Can Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Result from Nutritional Deficiency?

Major changes in the US diet over the last century have created a significant deficiency of omega-3 fatty acids and an excess of omega-6 fatty acids. The heavily-promoted vegetable oils sold in grocery stores contain high amounts of omega-6 fats and very little omega-3 -- a ratio of about 20 to 1. Our bodies, however, evolved on diets that provided a maximum of 4 parts of omega-6 to 1 part of omega-3.

Research has shown that high consumption of vegetable fats and oils by pregnant women corresponds to low blood levels of DHA in both mothers and babies. Healthy development of the eyes and the brain require plenty of DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid found primarily in the fat of cold-water fish.

Children with ADHD were given 10-15 grams of DHA and EPA each day via pharmaceutical grade fish oil. He also restricted their intake of high-glycemic carbohydrates. The children's ability to concentrate and their behavior improved within weeks.

Immunomodulatory and AntiCancer Effects of AHCC

The effects of therapy with active hemicellulose compound (AHCC) were examined in 11 cancer patients. Patients demonstrated a low base level of NK activity (18.8%), which was significantly enhanced by AHCC at 2 weeks (2.5 fold), and was maintained at a high level. The second was direct anticancer properties. In vitro studies showed that AHCC possesses suppressive effects on tumour cell growth. AHCC (1 mg/ml) cultured with K562 and Raji tumour cells caused 21% and 43% decrease in cell counts, respectively, as compared to control untreated cells. It is concluded that the high augmentory effect of AHCC and the absence of notable side-effects make AHCC a promising immunotherapeutic agent for the treatment of cancer patients.

Drinking Green Tea Keeps Blood Pressure Down

Drinkers of green tea and oolong tea are less likely to develop high blood pressure than nondrinkers, a Taiwanese study said. The risk of hypertension, which can lead to heart disease and stroke, declined the more green or oolong tea was consumed regularly, the study by researchers from National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, said.

Alternatives to ProXeed

We have had a number of people ask us if it is possible to take supplements for enhancing male fertility. ProXeed is a great product, but it is expensive. The components of ProXeed are available off-the-shelf for about half the cost. These components include L-Carnitine in the Fumarate form, Acetyl L-Carnitine, citric acid and fructose. Research shows that L-Carnitine and Acetyl L-Carnitine are effective for enhancing male fertility.
