[A Healthy Prostate | Prostate Cleansing Nutrients] [Amino Acids for the Formation of Hormones and Enzymes] [Antioxidants] Far eastern men have healthier prostates than men in America. Dietary intake may be a crucial factor. A healthful diet consisting of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and soy products along with vitamin and herbal support can have a beneficial effect on the prostate gland. The following nutrients are designed to support the healthy functioning of the prostate gland.* Astaxanthin is a member of
the carotenoid family and is a powerful newly discovered antioxidant that
helps protect against more types of free radicals than any other
antioxidant.* The natural form of Astaxanthin is derived from the
microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis and is at least 10 times more effective
as an antioxidant than beta-carotene. It is highly bioavailable because it
binds to a lipid (fat) molecule and enters the bloodstream more readily
than other antioxidants. Astaxanthin is a fat soluble nutrient that is
able to cross the blood-brain barrier, which enhances its benefits. It is
100-500 times more effective than vitamin E in inhibiting lipid
peroxidation, which is the destruction of fatty acids and proteins in cell
membranes that can cause oxidative damage. Astaxanthin exhibits strong
anti-inflammatory properties at the cellular level by inhibiting oxidants
that cause inflam-mation to the cells.* Results from clinical studies
testing the safety of Astaxanthin have shown no known toxicity. astaZANTHINTM
brand Astaxanthin is a highly concentrated natural extract from
H.pluvialis micro algae. Saw Palmetto Extract (berry) (Serenoa
repens) is a small palm tree, with berries and leaves, indigenous to North
America. Saw Palmetto berries have been written about as a familiar remedy
for prostate health in herbal medical literature since the 1800's. By the
1970's, clinical studies in Europe were proving what herbalists had known
for years. Saw Palmetto can be used for prostate support.* A German study,
over a three year period, showed significant improvement in 82% of the 315
patients with prostate symptoms. Some of the fat soluble active compounds
in Saw Palmetto berries that have a beneficial affect on the prostate are
free fatty acids, phytosterols and monoglycerides. A standardized extract
that contains 45% fatty acids and sterols is the most beneficial form. Pygeum Extract (bark) (Prunus
africanus) is an evergreen tree found in Africa. Extracts from the bark
contain several chemical compounds including phytosterols which have anti-
inflammatory activity that promotes healthy bladder and prostate
function.* Pygeum Extracts have been used in France for the last 25 years
to support prostate health.* The synergistic combination of both Saw
Palmetto and pygeum may have a more beneficial effect on prostate health. Hawthorne Extract (Crataegus
oxycantha) is recognized for its high concentration of flavonoid
compounds, known as proanthocyanidins, that are primarily responsible for
its free radical scavenging activity. Hawthorn extract may be helpful in
promoting healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.* The flavonoid
compounds have been shown to strengthen coronary vessels which may enhance
the smooth flow of blood into the arteries as well.* Nettle Root Extract (16:1) (Urticae
diocia radix) is supportive in maintaining healthy bladder function.* It
is a nourishing herb rich in minerals. Nettles has a mild water releasing
action and aids the kidneys with elimination of uric acid.* Pumpkin Seed Oil Extract (Cucurbita pepo) contains a
high amount of zinc as well as essential fatty acids and sterols that are
beneficial for healthy bladder and prostate function.* Vitamin B6 has a
mild water regulating action that supports healthy bladder function and is
a necessary nutrient for metabolizing fatty acids. * Amino acids for the formation of hormones and enzymes Alanine is present in prostate fluid and
recent studies have shown that it plays a role in supporting prostate
health.* It also provides nutritional support and tonifies the male
reproductive system.* Lycopene is a carotenoid found in tomatoes. Carotenoids are pigments synthesized by plants that give them their orange, yellow and red colors. Antioxidant
Minerals and Vitamins Antioxidants assist the body's
immune system to quench free radicals before they can damage healthy
cells.* Recent research has revealed carotenoid compounds, found in
various vegetables and fruits, as having antioxidant activity that can
destroy free-radical causing agents. Free radicals are unstable molecules
that circulate in the body and can be caused by exposure to food additives
and chemical preservatives, rancid oils, processed foods, radiation, UV
sunlight and environmental pollution. They are responsible for many
degenerative health conditions. Lycopene has received a lot of publicity
in recent years. Zinc is a trace mineral that is an
essential nutrient for hormonal metabolism and prostate health.* The
largest concentration of zinc is found in the prostate gland. Zinc
deficiencies may be linked to prostate conditions. Calcium is an important mineral for
enhancing healthy prostate function.* Essential fatty acids work with
vitamin D in the body to make calcium available to the tissues. Vitamin C plays a critical role in the
body's immune system and healing process.* It increases the production of
white blood cells that protect the body from foreign substances by
producing antibodies and T-cells. Vitamin C helps fight free radical
damage *which often contributes to degenerative conditions. Ester C is
absorbed faster into the blood stream and excreted more slowly than
regular vitamin C supplements. Vitamin E is an immune-enhancing nutrient
with strong antioxidant activity.* Reprinted with the exclusive permission of Health Plus, Inc. |
